Carolyn Speed started volunteering for The Haven as our Public Relations Volunteer several years ago. Carolyn and her husband, Jim, we’re introduced to The Haven seven-teen years ago when they adopted a beautiful Sheltie, Lady Katie.
“Lady Katie has been gone three years, and we still miss her every day. She was Jim’s car-riding buddy. He would take her on rides over to Alabama to see cows and to get out and explore.
And, she was our cross-country companion for many trips to Arizona. The grand twins loved her. Her first elevator ride was in a hotel in Columbus, TX. Very hesitant. The next time we stayed there, she marched right in. The third time, she even knew which room Jim was in when she got off the elevator, although it was her first time up that trip. Smart girl! We have lots of Katie stories, which we cherish.”
Carolyn can often be found drafting press releases on important animal welfare topics and Haven promotions. She can articulate essential subjects that are easy to digest and grab your attention. Carolyn also helps with articles for The Haven’s website and communicates with the media to provide awareness of The Haven’s mission. Carolyn also serves on fundraising committees like The Haven’s annual pet parade fundraiser, Mystic Mutts of Revelry.
“Carolyn is an extraordinary person,” said Michael Graham, Executive Director for The Haven. Her radiant optimism, caring heart, and intelligence continue to help homeless pets. When we assess new or current programs and fundraising concepts, Carolyn is a one-stop focus group helping us make wise decisions. We are a stronger, more effective nonprofit with Carolyn on our lifesaving team.”
Carolyn is a hardworking and reliable volunteer whose time and talent are helping homeless pets find new loving homes. Nonprofit agencies like The Haven rely heavily on volunteers, and they should be celebrated all year long. Please join us in thanking Carolyn for volunteering her time and talent to improve animal welfare and end pet homelessness.
