The Haven No-Kill Animal Shelter Embraces AI Technology to Help Save More Lives
FAIRHOPE, Ala. (April 10, 2025) — The Haven No-Kill Animal Shelter in Fairhope, Alabama, is breaking new ground in animal welfare by integrating cutting-edge artificial intelligence into its daily operations. Thanks to a generous collaboration with EasyAI, the shelter has introduced two innovative tools—an AI-powered phone receptionist named Matthew and a smart chatbot on their website—both designed to enhance efficiency and save more animal lives.
With a friendly and knowledgeable voice, Matthew now answers the shelter’s main phone line, handling over 500 incoming calls per month. This technology has dramatically reduced the amount of time the small nonprofit team spends answering repetitive questions, allowing staff to focus more energy on what matters most—matching homeless pets with loving adopters.
“We’re always looking for innovative ways to do more with less,” said Michael Graham, Executive Director of The Haven. “Matthew has become an honorary team member—polite, helpful, and never takes a day off! Thanks to this partnership with EasyAI, our staff can now spend more time placing pets in forever homes and growing our life-saving programs.”
The Haven has also launched a new AI chatbot on its website, available 24/7 to help visitors navigate adoption, volunteering, and donation options. But what makes this feature truly special is its ability to share personalized information about specific animals. Ask about Tina, a two-year-old English Staffordshire Terrier-Chihuahua mix, and Matthew will tell you all about her personality, needs, and how to adopt her—all from the comfort of your own home or mobile device.
