The Haven is a 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill animal shelter and does not euthanize companion cats and dogs that are healthy or have treatable illnesses or behavior issues. We work in concert with the City of Fairhope’s municipal animal control division, the City of Fairhope Animal Control, where The Haven manages the shelter. This Public Private Partnership, formed in 2000, has created and maintained a 90% save rate or higher for the City of Fairhope Animal Shelter and community, creating a no-kill city. The Haven shares what we have learned over the years to help end pet homelessness with other rescues and shelters, helping us all work towards achieving a 90% save rate in the state of Alabama.
The Haven aims to continue educating our community on the definition of no-kill, and the save rate is calculated for shelters and communities nationwide. Please visit Best Friends Animal Society’s. The Haven is a Best Friends Animal Society Network Partner.
The Haven is proud to partner with Shelter Animals Count, a national database that tracks shelter statistics. Feel free to check out our statistics using the interactive dashboard below. This data is updated on the 15th of each month.
