The phrase “estate plan” sounds like a complicated set of material that only very wealthy people need, but in fact it refers to the documents that almost everyone needs, whether their financial and familial affairs are simple or complex. The needs of your immediate family as well as the needs of your lovable companions are very important to The Haven No-Kill Animal Shelter.

The steps required to protect these needs along with other important topics will be explained in The Haven’s annual Estate Planning seminar which will be taking place on Friday, May 6, 2016 from noon to 1 pm at The Brennity at Daphne located at 27440 County Road 13 in Daphne, AL. Some of the topics discussed will be providing for and protecting your beloved pets, updates in estate planning laws, charitable gift planning, power of attorney, creating…

wills and trusts, and the major changes to life estate deed in Alabama proposed.

“There are a number of important changes in the law in Alabama and nationwide that may affect the plans you may have in place,” according to Kyla Kelim, attorney with Aging in Alabama elder law firm and honored speaker for this event.

Planning for the future is always important. Do not let your furry friends be a side note, make plans for their future as well. “It is crucial to review your plans to make sure that your estate plan is still intact and valid,” she added. The future may be a frightening concept, but it should never be ignored. Protect yours and your pet’s futures because they cannot plan ahead for themselves. Make sure that they receive the best outcome possible, because family is a precious thing.

“We are grateful to the supporters of this important seminar and the positive response we have received from the community,” stated Michael Graham, executive director for The Haven. “Planning for loved ones future including our pets will help us have peace of mind knowing our loved ones will continue to receive the same level of care that provides and ensures they will have a good quality of life,” Graham added.

This workshop is free to the public, and a complimentary lunch will be provided by Mary Ann’s Deli & Catering in Fairhope, but seating is limited. Reserve your seat before May 5 by calling 251-929-2494 or by emailing Michael Graham, executive director for The Haven, at mgraham@HavenForAnimals.org.
