The Haven is proud to announce Project PAWS, a vital initiative designed to support the health and well being of our community’s pets. Understanding the importance of responsible pet ownership, The Haven offers low-cost spay and neuter services, along with a rabies vaccine for those pets age 12 weeks and older. Project PAWS is committed to making pet care affordable so pets can remain with their families. This program provides low-cost service fees based on the species of your pet ensuring that all pet owners can access necessary spay and neuter medical procedures without financial strain. Here’s how the pricing works:
Spay Neuter Surgeries:
- Female Dog Spay: $150
- Male Dog Neuter: $105
- Female Cat Spay: $125*
- Male Cat Neuter: $75*
*For feral cats please see our TNR (Trap Neuter Return) Program.
Additional Charges:
- Rabies vaccination: $26 – Alabama law (Code of Alabama 1975 Subsection 3-7A-2) requires that all owned dogs, cats, and ferrets be vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian with an approved one year vaccine. When scheduling a surgical appointment, if your dog or cat is already vaccinated for rabies, you must provide proof. If not, you will need to pay an additional $26 for the rabies vaccination at the time of scheduling.
- During surgery, pet owners can opt for additional services such as DA2PP vaccinations for dogs, FVRCP vaccinations for cats, diagnostic tests, and de-worming medications. Please note that the costs for these extra services are not included in the program and must be covered by the pet owner.
Prepayment Policy:
- Payment in full is required when booking a reservation for your pet(s).
- Should a client fail to attend their scheduled appointment without cancelling with The Haven at least three business days in advance, a no-show fee of $35 will be imposed for each missed appointment.
- Accepted forms of payment include cash, credit card, debit card, or money order. Please note that all transactions made via credit or debit card are subject to a 3.5% convenience fee.
Important Considerations:
While Project PAWS covers low-cost spay, neuter, and rabies vaccines, all other veterinary care responsibilities rest with the pet owner. Please be aware that The Haven is not liable for any issues that may arise post-procedure. Additionally, the veterinarian may require the pet owner to agree to and pay for any pre-surgical veterinary services. The pet owner agrees to transport their pet humanely in a pet crate to and from the scheduled veterinary appointment.
