Birthdays are for celebrating the number of years lived. We want them to be memorable occasions shared with family and friends. But what if you don’t have a family? What if you were abandoned, neglected, or abused and now rely on strangers for food and shelter? Every day, you wait and hope you will be given a second chance by being adopted into your furever family. If only people knew how easily they could help you. How can you get them to understand when you speak a different language?
The Haven has been speaking for homeless animals since 2001. Over the years, the no-kill, non-profit organization has initiated programs to save as many cats and dogs in Baldwin County as possible. The latest venture is pawty planning, with the help of caring citizens.
If you’re on Facebook, chances are good you’ve seen birthday fundraisers. You log on to…
wish your friend a happy birthday and see she’s raising funds for her favorite charity. You don’t have to donate to your friend’s cause, but if you wanted to, it would be easy to do so. It’s just as easy for you to set up your own fundraiser. With Facebook birthday fundraisers, you can reach hundreds of people at once and encourage them to help The Haven spread the word about programs for homeless pets and generate donations for those programs. Facebook doesn’t charge processing fees, so 100% of donations from birthday fundraisers goes directly to helping the animals. Your friends can tell their friends, who can tell their friends, who can… you get the picture. It’s like the twilight bark in 101 Dalmatians.
To set up your Facebook birthday fundraiser, go to The Haven’s Facebook page and click Create a fundraiser (on a computer) or the Fundraisers tab (on a mobile device). Answer a few questions, follow the prompts, and in no time at all, you’ll start collecting funds. People will learn about that homeless cat or dog waiting for a furever home and the next cat or dog that will be saved once that one is adopted. So while you celebrate your life, you’ll give a paw up to adoptable pets, maybe eventually saving 101 animal lives.
