Over the past several years, thousands of animal shelters and rescue agencies across the United States have implemented new life-saving measures in an effort to save more homeless pets. Relying on the generosity of donors, volunteers, and national no-kill animal welfare leaders in the country like Best Friends Animal Society aids in achieving their efforts. The national no-kill leader held their Summer to Save Them All®, event, a series of adoption promotions for Best Friends Network Partners to participate and help communities save more homeless pets.
“We are so thankful for the tireless efforts of our volunteers and Best Friends Animal Society toward ending pet homelessness across the U.S. and in the wonderful State of Alabama,” states Stephanie Calhoun, President of the Board of Directors of The Haven.
The Haven, a 501 (c) 3 adoption guarantee animal shelter located in Baldwin County is a proud Best Friends Network partner. The local animal group joined in with other Network Partners across the United States in the special summer promotion, recently winning a $1,500 award from Best Friends Animal Society for having the highest number of cats adopted during the $10 adoption promotion in June. “We are so thankful to Best Friends Animal Society to receive this award,” stated Michael Graham, Executive Director. ” The award is made possible thanks to our Board of Directors, volunteers, and local municipal leaders who are behind us supporting our mission to end pet homelessness..”

The adoption guarantee animal shelter was founded in 2000 by local veterinarian Dr. Teresa Marshall, DVM. This well-known animal advocate identified the need to help the abandoned animal’s population in our community who were being overlooked and not being adopted due to treatable illnesses and behavioral conditions that could be rehabilitated so a loving home could be found. Today, The Haven has helped over 7,000 homeless pets from across Baldwin County find a second chance thanks to its partners like Best Friends Animal Society.
The Haven staff is eager to use this award to ensure it will have the greatest impact for the animals. “It will be invested in our lifesaving programs in order to create an impact by saving even more homeless cats and dogs,” says Michael Graham, The Haven’s Executive Director.
