Lori, a volunteer animal care attendant, washes and puts away laundry such as towels and blankets used to provide comfy 
beds for homeless Haven residents. Clean towels are used to dry off a cat or dog after a bath. For some, this is the first time they have ever taken a bath.
Volunteer HAT (Haven Animal Transporter) Ann returns from the veterinarian clinic with two adoptable dogs who have received rabies vaccinations and have been neutered. Ann is assisted by the Haven caregivers in unloading the dogs back into their temporary home until they are adopted.
The Haven’s lifesaving programs and services are made possible by volunteers like Lori and Ann. Providing this service to society is an invaluable contribution and a way to give back to the community. Individuals, communities, and the world can benefit from volunteering. Getting involved in the community and helping those in need is a great way to make a difference.
We are looking for new volunteers to assist with canine enrichment treats, walking and socializing dogs, caring for cats at our satellite adoption center, and fostering. In our experience, volunteers provide The Haven with new perspectives and ideas that help us to grow and save more lives. Furthermore, volunteers contribute to the reduction of costs and increase of efficiency.
Various types of volunteers exist, including short-term, long-term, and virtual volunteers. Typically, short-term volunteers are recruited for a specific project or event. Long-term volunteers can commit to recurring shifts and work on a regular basis. Our virtual volunteers write articles for our newsletter and website, and draft press releases.
The Haven’s volunteers make miracles happen every day for the animals. Every one of our devoted volunteers makes a positive difference in our community by donating their time and helping the homeless animals.
