Creating a better community for people and pets in Baldwin County has been this nonprofit’s goal for over 15 years. The no-kill animal group is pleased to have received a grant from Best Friends Animal Society® to help accomplish this goal.
The Haven No-Kill Animal Shelter™ participates in Best Friends’ No More Homeless Pets® Network, a program that supports grassroots animal rescue groups by providing partners like The Haven™ with opportunities to help save more homeless pets in their communities.
“Our dedicated team of donors, volunteers and staff are committed to creating and sustaining a no-kill community. They have shown this through their continued support year after year. Add to their generosity support from local and national leaders such as Best Friends Animal Society® , and The Haven™ has an even greater chance to achieve such a goal,” said Michael Graham, executive director for The Haven™ .
The Haven™ was one of several non-profit animal groups from across the United States who applied for this grant. “This funding will allow us to save more lives in 2015, while also improving Baldwin County’s open admission shelters (a.k.a. animal control shelters) live release rates for cats and dogs,” said Graham. “Our goal will be to and adopt out an additional 75 homeless dogs and cats to loving families who enter our open admission shelters. This goal will be acheived by reducing our adoption fee to $50 for dogs and $25 for cats who are 1 year or older in age while supplies last. We appreciate the support of Best Friends Animal Society in making our life-saving mission possible.”
Liz Finch, senior manager of Best Friends’ Community Programs and Services, added, “This grant project definitely targets animals that are most at-risk to be killed and provides an innovated solution to save their lives in alignment with Best Friends’ determination to Save Them All®.”
Every day, approximately 9,000 pets are killed in shelters because they don’t have a home. Best Friends Animal Society and its No More Homeless Pets Network partners, such as The HavenTM are committed to saving them. This lifesaving grant is part of Best Friends Animal Society’s work to help Save Them All.

About The Haven Adoption Guarantee Animal Shelter™
The Haven™ rescues, re-habilitates, and re-homes over 900 animals each year serving Baldwin County since 2000. The non-profit animal shelter collaborates with the Baldwin County municipal animal control shelters to create a no-kill society for companion pets, caring for over 70 homeless cats and dogs at the shelter on any given day, and finding loving homes for these homeless, injured, neglected and abused and abandoned animals. All animals are vaccinated, evaluated both behaviorally and medically, fed, watered and marketed until they find their forever home.
