As a Best Friends Animal Society Network partner, The Haven answered the call to help neighboring network partners save homeless cats and dogs who were affected by the recent floods in Louisiana. The Haven troops left in their Mobile Adoption Rescue Unit (MARU) before sunrise Wednesday, September 14 and returned that night with 28 animals who originated from open-intake municipal shelters that were affected by the ravaging waters, some no longer operational.

There were dogs and cats of every shape, size, color, and breed. Chance, an adventurous and friendly 3-year-old Terrier mix was found as stray weighing only 30 pounds. He was pulled from an area animal control shelter in Lousiana after not being reclaimed and…

placed in a foster home. He received weeks of love and medical attention and now he is happy, healthy, and ready for a second chance.

The dogs were picked up at The Haven the following day by the Fox Valley Humane Association. They are non-profit, private animal shelter founded in 1891, making them the second oldest humane society in Wisconsin. Fox Valley transported the dogs to their facility where eager adopters are waiting. The cats are at The Haven. They are all healthy, up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready to pounce into your family.
