In compliance with the Alabama Stay-at-Home ordinance which went into effect on Saturday, April 4, The Haven will remain closed to the public.

In addition, we have ended adoptions by appointment only and paused on accepting new emergency fostering applications in efforts to limit face-to-face interactions and protect our limited staff.

The Haven Outreach & Volunteer programs are still paused until further notice.

Please know that we have a devoted staff who are feeding, cleaning, and providing enrichment for our sheltered pets in our care. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this time.

ADOPTIONS

Please view all available pets on our website. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please complete an online adoption application as the first step in the adoption process. You can call (619) 452-0359 or email us at info@havenforanimals.org if you have questions. Adoptable pets are placed with approved adopters in the order the application was received. We will resume adoptions by appointment only on May 1, 2020.

EMERGENCY FOSTER HOMES NEEDED

UPDATE: Due to the outpouring of support from our community and receiving close to 40 Emergency Foster Forms, we have paused the ER Fostering at this time. We are grateful to those who stepped up. However, please stay tuned as we likely are opening this up again due to new animals whose owners could no longer keep due to job loss or homelessness. We have set up programs to offer those pet owners directly impacted by the COVID-19 crisis that will help prevent owner surrenders and also pet abandonment during horrific times.

To prepare for a projected increase in abandoned pets and pet placement requests due to the COVID-19 pandemic and economic situation, we are trying to reduce the number of homeless pets in our shelter. You can help by fostering.

We have several medium and large dogs who are in need of a loving foster home for a minimum of 4 weeks. The Haven provides all the supplies like crates, pet food, linens, and more. If you can foster for a minimum of 4 weeks, please complete the online Emergency Foster Form. Due to limited staff, we are unable to follow-up on incomplete applications. Please allow additional time to respond due to extremely limited resources.

EMERGENCY PET PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE

The Haven is not able to accept owner surrenders at this time. Pet owners can complete the Emergency Pet Placement Assistance Form for possible emergency assistance when this COVID-19 situation improves. We cannot review incomplete applications.

Please know that our main goal is to prevent owner surrenders.

*One completed form is required if you have more than one pet you need re-homing assistance for.

EMERGENCY PET FOOD ASSISTANCE

The Emergency Pet Food Assistance service is for those who are seeking pet food assistance and have been directly affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The Haven, a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter is offering this service to Baldwin County, Alabama pet owners to help prevent these pet owners from surrendering or abandoning pets.

Please note that we do not ship pet food. All approved forms will need to pick up the pet food by appointment only. Location for pick-up will be shared with you at the time of scheduling the appointment. Email and texting is the preferred form of communication for us at this time. We cannot guarantee that we will have pet food in stock and we are unable to offer specific dietary pet food.

Pet owners are limited pet food assistance for up to two pets per household.

*A valid ID will be required at the time of pick-up.

THE HAVEN LOST OR FOUND PET FORM

Please complete the form https://tinyurl.com/LostFoundPetForm as the 1st step in requesting assistance with a found cat or dog and/or a missing pet. We are only communicating via text or email at this time due to extremely limited resources from the COVID-19 crisis. Please allow ample time for us to respond. You can also click http://www.petbond.com/flyerentry.php?oid=bf to create an online lost/found pet flyer to share with us and the community. We also are in urgent need of your support. Please make a donation to our COVID-19 Homeless Pet Emergency Fund by clicking here.
